IC Industries announced a major multi-phase expansion of their Downtown Waterfront headquarters Monday, committing $84 million in capital investment and an estimated 650 new manufacturing, engineering, and logistics positions over three years. The City Council approved the associated development permits and a 10-year tax incentive package at a special session last week. Applications for the first phase of hiring open October 1st. The Port Cerulean Planning Commission voted 7-2 Thursday to approve Phase 2 of the Harbor District Waterfront Redevelopment Plan, clearing the way for a new mixed-use commercial and transit plaza adjacent to Union Station. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2002, with the project creating an estimated 1,200 construction jobs. Read more…

Port Cerulean Police Chief D. Arnett announced the addition of 40 new officers to the force this week, funded by a community policing grant secured by Mayor Hollings' office. The new officers will be deployed to downtown beats and the Docks precinct beginning October 15th. Read more…

The Port Cerulean Art Museum and Center will open its highly anticipated fall exhibit on September 21st, exploring the industrial heritage of our waterfront across five galleries. The exhibit includes works by 34 regional artists and rare archival photographs from the docklands. Free admission on opening night; regular tickets $8 adults, $4 students. Read more…

Port Cerulean Harbor & Cargo Docks

The Port Cerulean Harbor is the economic engine of our city and one of the most significant commercial ports in the region. The Docks district handles over 4 million tons of cargo annually across container, bulk, and break-bulk terminals, with ferry services connecting Port Cerulean to eight regional destinations.

The port is directly served by Union Station with connections across all three subway lines. Blue Line express service links the Harbor to Port Cerulean International Airport in under 25 minutes.
